Answer the following questions in complete sentences:
- What is your career goal as a psychology major today?
I have chosen my career direction as a professional specializing in behavioral psychology to improve people’s quality of life. I plan to have a career in clinical practice and maybe try to devise ways of handling anxiety/stress. The knowledge and skills I will attain from a degree in psychology will give me the opportunity to attain this goal, and I will complement this by doing a master’s program.
- Of all the activities in your life, identify your top three highest priorities and top three lowest priorities.
Top Priorities | Lowest Priorities |
Advancing my education and career goals. | Watching non-educational TV shows. |
Maintaining physical and mental health. | Excessive time on social media. |
Strengthening family and meaningful relationships. | Associating with negative or toxic individuals. |
Completing tasks and responsibilities at work. | Excessive use of social media. |
Focusing on my career growth and educational goals, including coursework. | Spending too much time on minor, routine household chores. |
- If you have time management conflicts between these priorities, how will you decide where your time goes?
Thus, I will plan my free time aiming at activities that are important and have a high impact on my life including my career and education. In the event of conflict, the least critical time management goals cutting the time spent on social networks or putting off the chores that are not urgent will be modified. |
- To fit school into your schedule, what activities will you need to shift or lessen? What did you normally do during those time blocks?
I will reduce my leisure screen time to watch movies and shows and also I will not do household chores alone instead will hire people. For instance, I know that in an hour I may waste my time browsing through social media sites I will instead dedicate my time to my studies. |
- When something comes up that you must handle, identify what activities in your plan will be replaced so you can do schoolwork.
I will modify recreational and free time tasks like minimizing social interactions playing video games or watching television so that school assignments are done. |
- Plan for managing schedule changes, including conflicts, problems, and technology issues. Consider the following:
- When you have computer, Internet, or electrical power problems, what is your backup plan, and will this add time to your schedule?
If I have issues with my laptop or internet I will use backup devices for work, such as my smartphone. As for major conflicts or other unexpected occurrences, I will spend my weekends, while doing my academic assignments. |
- Do you commit to following this plan for achieving your career goal?
Yes, I will adhere to this plan to remain on course for my educational and career goals. Stating goals and having a particular timetable makes me sure of the likelihood of success. |
- Approximately how much time did it take you to complete this Time Management Exercise Worksheet?
- Regarding what I anticipated or envisioned.
- More time than I anticipated or envisioned.
- Less time than I anticipated or envisioned.
- If this assessment (and/or other activities in your schedule) took more or less time than expected, describe specific changes you need to make in your future time management planning.
It only took a little more time than estimated because of the careful planning that was done first. I learned the significance of time management and the use of buffer times as was seen in the above schedule. |
