Reflecting on Your Skills, Goals, and Accomplishments
Self-assessment enables me to identify what strengths I have and where I stand regarding the targets needed to get to the next level, thus identifying the strengths that need to be developed and setting achievable goals for professional development. Thus, drawing from past performance, I am capable of relating that to future performance to set targets about experience.
Part 1: About Me
Quote
“True success comes from pursuing what brings you joy. When your heart is in what you do, achievement becomes effortless.”
This quote describes me to the compact since it embraces passion even in the pursuit of success. Apart from cleansing myself, I have found happiness in a job done, thus without saying excelling is automatic when I am true to my values. This worldview always propels me to act in a way that ensures I am working on ambitious goals that I can achieve and will be of benefit to other individuals. For me in my journey my principle has always been success is doing something that makes you happy hence my motivation.
My Goal
My personal and professional goal is to evolve while being true to my values: professionalism, courtesy, and commitment. In my future nursing practice, I would work towards establishing a health environment that will be creative and with a growth plan to contain the health of the patients. In addition to my personal growth in the profession, I came up with the knowledge of nursing informatics knowledge and skills in nursing in which I would bring a permanent change to the aspects of patient care and the health systems. The goals are important because they are the key element of personal development and socially responsible conduct. Hence, the goals are to enhance one’s learning and development to establish a future in which I can succeed professionally and personally regarding my values and vision.
My Areas of Strength
In my opinion, I found my major assets to be possessing interpersonal skills and being able to respect other people. I ensure ultimate clarity in most of my interactions to ensure all players involved develop adequate perspectives as needed when entrusted with duties that significantly rely on cooperation. It also makes me able to perceive the emotions of other people and in case they are, I can take time to console and direct them. This is because on a given day I have always discovered many of my colleagues, as well as friends, asking my assistance on how they would manage to handle confrontational discussions or seek audible solutions. It helps me to take care of good relations and to ensure that the environment is conducive, whether to people I know or those I may meet along the process whether in personal or business sense.
Areas of Growth and Improvement
I am very good at communication and interpersonal skills products but weak in organizing my time and making decisions. It is often true that I could not be able to manage many things at the same time. This stimulates anxiety and ultimately frustrates work, and timely accomplishment of tasks is compromised. On decision-making, I have learned that on matters that require quick decisions, I am not quick to exercise the decision-making authority by seeking more information. I will attempt to work more to organize my time and to enhance my confidence level so that I make emergency decisions without spending a lot of time.
Solving Problems
Thanks to being a good communicator and being able to understand the needs, wants, and feelings of other people, I proved to become a good team player who can find solutions to problems together with others, and in the meantime, be able to bring trust and confidence to faced complex issues. However, improvement in time utilization and problem-solving is going to assist me in changing my approach to problem-solving. For such refinements, I have the passion of grooming myself more to enable me to tackle such challenges effectively and competently and come up with decisions that will prevent such problems from becoming big issues. That is the reason why this nonbiased method of problem-solving will enhance my leadership capacity and in turn, have a positive impact on my work and home life.
Part 2: Accomplishment Statements
Accomplishment 1: Re-training Staff
Challenge | This was due to political struggles and nursing staff tended not to practice according to up-to-date clinical and/or safety protocols acquired in practice, putting patient safety at risk. |
Action | The targeted relearning program included; oral and chart-based/discussion-based practical skills training, training workshops, and other structured teaching-learning activities, as well as issuance of new clinical practice protocols. New technology tools that can assist in the improvement of protocol compliance should be implemented. |
Result | My retraining program also caused an increase in subsequent compliance with clinical protocols by 40% with procedural failures hence reducing patient safety and operations by 30%. |
Details | In the next six months, I was able to organize these exercises for 75 of the nursing staff for bi-weekly training. This made it possible for every nurse to have done about 20 hours, this was in addition to the interactive workshop and practicals. An undertaking of performance consistently helped follow-up of activities, enhancement of any concern area, and solving of problems. This strategy was applied to ensure that all the users of the team were trained to a similar level and afterward received their performance feedback instantly. |
Accomplishment 2: Properly Scheduling Healthcare Staff
Challenge | The staffing pattern at the hospital was either they hired few employees or many employees at the same time; this situation worsened the quality of the services offered to the patients and the employees. |
Action | I made a new schedule with the latest software regarding how many of the staff are required, taking into consideration several heads of patients and previous records. Compare scientific sources of staff favorite times and discuss with them how to readjust shifts depending on the time of day patients would require care. |
Result | To make the problem more tangible, let’s look at the new scheduling system’s effects: occurrences of understaffing were decreased by 25% and overstaffing by 20% ensuring better patient care and staff satisfaction. |
Details | In the course of six months, I have mastered scheduling 100 healthcare staff to work in three shifts. Some of the flexibility was actual real-time changes adapted according to census and feedback from staff based on the needs of the new system. |
Story 1
Challenge | New clinical procedures were not implemented correctly by the nursing staff, and the safety of the patients and their care were improved improperly. |
Action | I defined a lack of understanding amongst the staff, created extensive training documents, and conducted group sessions. I offered various types of technology tools used in tracking compliance. |
Result | The nursing staff started to execute the said newer procedures more efficiently. On the surgical side, the procedural errors were reduced by 30% and compliance was reduced by 40%. |
Details | Successfully conspired and facilitated 12 engaging training sessions for six months for 75 nursing staff. All the nurses underwent 20 hours of training and implementing the lessons learned from the theoretical session. Consequently, compliance tracking systems also enabled one to watch the sessions live, therefore providing real-time tracking compliance and real-time performance reports. |
Story 2
Challenge | Ineffective staffing and health care were some of the biggest challenges that faced the healthcare facility. This in turn leads to the development of poor patient care, high employee burnout rates, and overall poor organizational performance. |
Action | To this, I proposed a holistic scheduling strategy. I implemented the schedule software program to evaluate patient admission patterns and staff distribution to have an optimum shift design. I also put in place a feedback mechanism for the staff in order to make quick changes to the schedule. |
Result | This approach has cut by half the number of staffing-related complaints increased patient satisfaction by a large margin and reduced staff turnover by 15 percent. |
Details | When implementing the scheduling exercise for a one-year working schedule for 120 healthcare professionals in the shift system, I put in place a weekly check-point where shift allocations needed to change based on the volume of patient turnover and the amount of effort required for the staff to ensure this and improve staff morale. |
Accomplishment Story 1 |
During this period of urgent necessity to increase the competencies of the nursing team, I launched large-scale retraining. The purpose of undertaking this challenge was to educate 75 nursing staff to improve their skills for handling the evolving scenarios in patient care. I offered bi-weekly training completed within six months with every nurse receiving twenty actual hours of hands-on training. Monitoring through evaluation was then built continuously in this training to evaluate the learners and the growing issues that may arise constantly. From these sessions, the nursing staff obtained the competencies of using the mobilizations, newly integrated protocols, and techniques that enhanced the quality and safety of patient care by a considerable degree. This structured and formal training practice resulted in raising the efficiency of clinical production as well as increasing the morale of the staff. These intensive and progressive training sessions helped to better the degree of nursing skills in general and had a very strong influence on meeting facility objectives concerning defensive measures for holding high levels of patient care. |
Accomplishment Story 2 |
This is a chronic issue, and as much as I did not like it; I thought it was time to come up with a new staff scheduling system at the healthcare facility. In this facility, there was a lack of effective staffing at the health facility and the problems included; poor, inconsistent, and inconsistent care for the patients, and a high rate of burnout among the employees. After that, I put a detailed schedule regime that would employ the latest technological tools to check admissibility and readiness among employees. This system provided a perfect basis for forming shift schedules that were reasonable and optimum. Besides, I formalized the process of providing feedback on the newly developed additional schedule with the staff so as not to miss whether the made changes were necessary and suitable as per the current day’s challenges. All these practices mentioned here helped in minimizing staffing-related issues by 30%. It is a fact that patient satisfaction scores increased dramatically and staff turnover reduced by about Mach 15%. I was able to coordinate up to 120 healthcare professionals for one year planning out their working shifts and making sure that the facility was adequately staffed three shifts. This new system consisted of weekly reviews and adjustments that gave better coverage, higher morale of staff, and more progressive patient care. |
Part 3: Reflect on Your Experiences
I have learned that self-reflection is a strong driving factor in one’s personal and/or career advancement. In some way regarding strengths, weak points, and achievements at certain times, there will be an apparent understanding of what I am capable of and how I am supposed to approach it. For instance, thinking about a project that has been accomplished will generate an understanding of what ideas contribute to success and will demonstrate precisely which segment of the skills needs improvement. This information will be useful to adjust the aimed objectives and to make the correct choice of a further profession level. Making me more adjustable and better prepared to respond to new challenges to become better off and develop resilience.
As applied to practice, pro-self-reflection can be learned in the following ways: setting up formal periods for reflection, writing a daily reflective diary, or asking other people about their opinions of one’s behavior. Therefore problem solving is inherent to the victories reflected in part 2 because they required me to manage the concerns and guarantee mutual benefit. The practice of how I should express my achievements is especially helpful now because I know how to tell my story about my successes to any employer. This feeling of confidence stems from a more profound appreciation of what my accomplishments can translate to about my power plan for career objectives among the success stories.
